This course will introduce you to the basic creative and practical aspects involved in photography.


Why take this course?

This course will introduce you to the basic creative and practical aspects involved in photography, so that you can develop a good understanding of the practices and processes involved in taking photographs. You will start to build your own portfolio whilst studying fundamental aspects of photography including portraiture, studio photography, file optimisation and manipulation. On successful completion of the course, students will be well-equipped with the skills needed to move on to more advanced levels of study or employment.

What you will experience

You will build on your understanding of basic camera techniques, whilst developing your studio photography and portraiture skills. You will also learn about file optimisation and how to manipulate your images, ensuring you can edit and prepare your photographs creatively and effectively.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a minimum of four course passes at National 5, Intermediate 2 or Standard Grade Credit level. Alternatively applicants should have relevant work experience or have successfully completed a relevant course at SCQF Level 5.
