Computing with Digital Media SCQF Level 5

This course is aimed at students who wish to discover and develop skills in IT and digital media.


Why take this course?

This course can start your career in the computing sector. If you have worked with applications, built a website, posted to social media and want to find out what career path this can open up for you, then this course may be for you.

Designed to develop your knowledge of contemporary applications currently in use in computing and digital media, and offers the opportunity to explore a range of computing disciplines such as interactive media/web development, software development, teamwork and games development.

What you will experience

Explore web design fundamentals and development; computer hardware and systems; and applications development. You will also look at modern–day advancements in mobile technology and personal computer applications, and complete a computing project.

A National Progression Award (NPA) in Digital Literacy and NPA Games Development at Level 5, and Still Images Editing at Level 6 are included in the course. You will also cover Communications and Numeracy at Level 5 (or potentially Level 6).

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a minimum of two subject passes (C grade or better) at National 4, Intermediate 1 or Standard Grade level. Alternatively applicants should have relevant work experience successful completion of a relevant course at introductory level (SCQF Level 4).
