Cut Hair Using Basic Barbering Techniques Broadly comparable to SCQF Level 5

Why take this course?

This course will enable you to develop basic barbering techniques, covering the use of clippers, razors, clipper and scissor over comb and club cutting techniques. You will be creating various looks for men including uniform layering, graduating and cuts with a fade. 

What you will experience

The course will initially focus on demonstrations and workshops, promoting your development of practical skills and further developing prior knowledge. You will be formatively assessed on clients throughout the course, with summative assessments for practical scheduled throughout and knowledge being assessed through an online test. Dates for assessment will be pre-arranged through discussion with your assessor.

Entry requirements

The course is aimed at those who have been successful in a Level 1 Hairdressing or barbering qualification and/or have been working in the industry for around two years. You will be expected to possess consultation and health and safety qualifications or appropriate work experience from a salon.

Good communication skills, a willingness to learn new practical skills and working with the general public are essential qualities for successfully achieving this qualification.

What you will need

You will need a kit comprising of items to use during practical activities. You will be provided with a list of items required and possible suppliers.

Black trousers, black top and closed toe shoes are required to be worn at all times in the salon.
