Based on national occupational standards, this preparation for work qualification is for those pursuing employment in the hairdressing industry.
Why take this course?
This course is suitable for those who have achieved the VRQ Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing, or those who have been working in the industry and are looking to gain a formal qualification.
The topics and practical skills covered will build on what students learned on the Level 2 course, and ensure each student is effectively prepared for working in the industry.
What you will experience
You will enhance your skills in consultation, styling, dressing, cutting, colouring and lightening, as well as in the promotion/selling of product and services, and in health and safety. There is also a focus on specialist areas such as bridal hairstyling, colour correction and advanced perming, including an emphasis on creative hairdressing design skills.
The course is taught in a realistic working environment, providing excellent salon experience for progression to employment. The course also includes Work Experience at INT 2.
Applicants should have achieved the VRQ Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing or an equivalent award, and have a minimum of three National 5, Intermediate 2 or Standard Grade Credit level qualifications, or appropriate life/work experience.
Good communication skills, a willingness to learn new practical skills and working with the general public are essential qualities for this course. Essential skills will be developed throughout the programme.
