Why take this course?

This course is aimed at learners with some additional learning support needs. You will be given the opportunity to select one entry level vocational qualification, which you will complete whilst you build and develop your general Core Skills.

A work experience placement is also built into the curriculum to ensure that upon completion of the course, you are well prepared to progress to further study or move directly into employment.

What you will experience

Your core skills will be developed throughout the course through classroom learning, work experience and in the completion of a National Progression Award (NPA) in Enterprise and Employability.

In addition, you will choose one from the following vocational qualifications:

  • NPA Bakery
  • SVQ1 Horticulture
  • SVQ1 Retail
  • City & Guilds Certificate in Hospitality
  • People & Society Award

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for those who have already completed the Preparation for Work course and are capable of working at SCQF Level 3/4. It is also suitable for those who have demonstrated work-ready skills whilst attending the School Links programme.
