Entry to the Uniformed Services
Broadly comparable to SCQF Level 6
This course follows the Level 2 Diploma, ensuring you are well prepared for work in the Police, Army, Navy, Air Force, Fire Brigade or Prison Service.
Why take this course?
This course will prepare you for entering employment in the services. You will cover a vast range of topics focusing on things like leadership and teamwork, emergency planning and response; understand conflict management and personal protection and not forgetting developing aspects of personal fitness.
What you will experience
You will cover a vast range of topics focusing on developing knowledge and skills required for the uniformed services. This will be done through a range of challenging and realistic activities, improving your leadership and team working skills. You will visit some of uniformed services establishments, such as a local fire station, police station, HMP YOI Grampian and the Army, where you will get to meet and talk with serving members of the uniformed services. You will get to see first–hand what their job roles are and the different types of career opportunities are available. There will be opportunities for some work experience with one or two of the uniformed services along with organised activities. You will also experience some outdoor activities such as land navigation, orienteering and expedition training.
This course is suitable for those who have completed the Level 2 Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services. Alternatively candidates should have at least three National 5 qualifications (at grade B or above), Intermediate 1 or Standard Graded General qualifications, preferably including English. Appropriate life or work experience will also be considered as a suitable entry requirement.
