The hairdressing, beauty and complementary therapy industry is undergoing significant growth, and there has been vast advances when it comes to new treatments and modern approaches, styles and trends. The practical occupational skills gained by students across these subjects are essential for progression to employment in the industry, and you will find that there are very good employment prospects for those of all ages, with various levels of qualification.
North East Scotland College hairdressing, beauty and complementary therapy students take part in local and national competitions from North East Hair and Beauty Festival, AHT and Worldskills. Students also take part in a number of community projects throughout the year. Recent collaborations include work with the Buchan Bridal Bash, charity events for organisations such as Children in Need and the Macmillan Trust, and in-house fund raising activities. Many full-time students will also take part in work placements.
Please note that hairdressing students will be required to carry their hairdressing kit and textbook to College each day that they attend, and lockers are only provided when students are working in the salons.
When it comes to sourcing clients, students are greatly encouraged to do this independently to secure clients for the various services they are practicing.
